Nigel Crisp

The Right Honourable Lord Crisp KCB

Nigel Crisp is an independent crossbench member of the House of Lords in the UK and works and writes mainly on global health. He was Chief Executive of the NHS – the largest health organisation in the world - and Permanent Secretary of the Department of Health, from 2000 to 2006. During this period he led major reforms which brought significant improvements to the NHS. His earlier career was in industry and charities. He has subsequently worked in low and middle income countries. Current activities involve the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health and the global campaign on nursing, Nursing Now, both of which he co-chairs. His latest book «Health is made at home, hospitals are for repairs» is published by SALUS: www.healthismadeathome.uk
